Nope, had to download the latest basic K-Lite pack and run that before even being able to open the game (it would run and even count time towards Steam's playtime, with the executable running in the background, but the game wouldn't start). I marked the checkbox with "Agree" and exited it, assuming the codec would install automatically. Not sure if this is another victim of Covid, or if Capcom messed up the RE Engine on PC after introducing RT to it (it's the first title on that platform to offer the feature), but the performance of Village is nowhere near RE2 and 3, both of which ran beautifully.Ī sign of bad things to come was when I tried starting the game for the first time and a pop-up appeared saying that I needed to install a video codec.
